As part of its ongoing journey across European research and innovation, digital and green transformation, and multi-faceted community involvement, and following the appointment of Martel’s CEO to Adra’s Board of Directors, Martel has joined the AI, Data and Robotics Association (Adra). The Association aggregates its founding organisations (BDVA, CLAIRE, EurAI, ELLIS, and euRobotics) into the European focal point for AI, Data and Robotics, and serves as the master entry for organisations willing to collaborate and shape the way forward in these domains in close connection with the European Commission.

Joining Adra is a key step forward for us.” – said Dr Giovanni Rimassa, Chief Innovation Officer at Martel – “It builds on our AI, Data and Robotics projects and expertise, as well as our existing BDVA membership and engagement. It is very timely and zeitgeisty, given the AI Act, the enthusiasm for Foundation Models, and the convergence of AI with Robotics and Cloud-Edge-IoT Computing”.

Martel sports a strong and varied presence in the European Research and Innovation on Artificial Intelligence, Data and Robotics through running Horizon Europe projects, such as TEADAL on trustworthy, stretched data lakes, HORSE on AI for 6G telecommunications, ACES on autopoietic cognitive Cloud-Edge infrastructure, TaRDIS on programming tools for swarm intelligence, COROB on flexible and cooperative multi-robotic manufacturing, and CoGNETs on intelligent IoT-to-Cloud dynamic swarms of autonomous devices.

Strategic Orientation towards an AI, Data and Robotics Roadmap 2025-2027Beyond taking part in the currently running Horizon Europe projects, Martel specialists are actively collaborating with partners and clients on the upcoming Horizon Europe 2024 calls that belong to the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership: from Explainable and Robust AI to Advancing Large AI Models, and further on with the even newer topics from the next 2025-2027 Work Programme. As an integral player within the Adra ecosystem and the associated communities, Martel continues to lead and collaborate with academic, industrial, and institutional partners at the forefront of European AI, Data and Robotics innovation, communication, and management.

About Adra

The AI, Data and Robotics Association (Adra, asbl) was founded on May 21, 2021, by five European organisations: BDVA, CLAIRE, ELLIS, EurAI and euRobotics. Created as the private side of the European Partnership on AI, Data and Robotics, one of the European Partnerships in Cluster 4 (digital, industry, and space) in Horizon Europe, the Partnership was officially launched when Adra signed an MoU with the European Commission on June 23, 2021. The Partnership aims to boost new markets and applications and attract investment to create technical, economic, and societal value for businesses, citizens, and the environment.
