Martel is proud to announce its membership in the Virtual Worlds Association (VWA), joining a growing European ecosystem of industry leaders, academic organisations and innovative startups working together to shape the future of Virtual Worlds technologies and policies across Europe.

By becoming part of the Virtual Worlds Association, Martel strengthens its commitment to supporting the development of Europe’s Virtual Worlds landscape through collaboration, innovation and strategic engagement with key stakeholders across the sector.

Martel brings to the VWA extensive expertise in the development, interoperability and deployment of Virtual Worlds, built through its active participation in leading European research and innovation initiatives. Through the OPENVERSE Coordination and Support Action, Martel has contributed to the creation of open, interoperable and human-centric virtual world ecosystems. Through 6G-XR, Martel has supported advances in next-generation immersive experiences enabled by 6G networks and extended reality technologies. Through the SPIRIT project, via the activities of its not-for-profit organisation Digital4Planet (D4P), Martel has also gained valuable experience in leveraging digital technologies to support sustainable and inclusive digital transformation.

This combination of technical know-how, ecosystem-building experience and strategic insight positions Martel to contribute meaningfully to the Association’s mission of fostering open, interoperable, trustworthy and innovative Virtual Worlds.

The Virtual Worlds Association, co-founded and led by 18 organisations across Europe, has grown to include more than 80 members from industry, academia and startups. Together, they are building a leading European ecosystem for Virtual Worlds. The Association works to advance and promote immersive technologies, extended reality (XR), digital twins, virtual collaborative spaces, interoperability and digital skills development.

VWA offers its members access to insights on Virtual Worlds partnerships and strategic initiatives, networking opportunities within the European community, and a unique opportunity to help shape the European industry position on key technological issues.

Martel looks forward to actively contributing to the Association’s mission and collaborating with fellow members to drive innovation, interoperability and sustainable growth within Europe’s evolving Virtual Worlds ecosystem.
