The 2nd EU-Japan Digital Week will take place in Tokyo from 23 to 30 March 2026, and Martel, as a partner of the INPACE project will join key stakeholders from government, industry, academia, research, and policymaking across the European Union, Japan, and the wider Indo-Pacific region to discuss cooperation in the digital economy.
Organised under the EU-Japan Digital Partnership, the EU-Japan Digital Week is the flagship annual event of the partnership and serves as a platform to advance concrete cooperation in the digital economy. The 2026 edition will focus on moving beyond dialogue towards practical collaboration and shared approaches to building a secure, resilient, and human-centric digital future.
Advancing Cooperation on Digital Transformation
The programme will address a wide range of strategic topics shaping global digital transformation, including emerging and disruptive technologies, artificial intelligence for societal good, trusted data spaces, cybersecurity, and the growing role of digital diplomacy in international technology governance.
Through thematic workshops, high-level policy dialogues, hands-on training sessions, a hackathon on interoperability of digital public infrastructure, and stakeholder roundtables, participants will explore opportunities for joint research, innovation, capacity-building, and policy alignment. Particular emphasis will be placed on how digital technologies can support sustainable economic development and responsible innovation within the framework of EU-Japan cooperation.
Fostering EU-Japan Digital Business Collaboration
Dr. Monique Calisti, CEO of Martel Innovate, will be present in Tokyo and will co-organise and lead the invitation-only session “EU Tech Business Offer for Japan” on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, together with Dr. Svetlana Klessova, Project Coordinator of INPACE at G.A.C. Group.
The EU-Japan Digital Week is a key moment to turn shared digital ambitions into concrete collaboration. By co-organising the ‘EU Tech Business Offer for Japan’ session, we aim to help European innovators better understand the Japanese market, identify trusted partners, and build sustainable business pathways that align with EU-Japan digital cooperation priorities. Our focus is on translating Europe’s technological strengths into real-world impact through long-term partnerships.
Dr Monique Calisti, CEO at Martel Innovate
The session will build on exchanges with diverse stakeholder groups to examine concrete pathways for European technology providers and innovators to engage with the Japanese market. Discussions will focus on market entry considerations, partnership models, and business development strategies aligned with EU-Japan digital cooperation priorities.
Bringing together participants from European Commission-funded projects alongside invited European experts with relevant sectoral experience, the session will adopt a brainstorming-oriented format to explore how European capabilities—particularly in digital infrastructure, AI applications, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies—can align with Japanese industry needs and policy objectives. The objective is to identify practical mechanisms for sustained business collaboration under the EU-Japan Digital Partnership.
