As valued members of the one6G Association, Martel executives have once again been invited to contribute to the on-stage and offstage discussions at the one6G Summit. The two-day event, held on September 5-6 in Valencia, Spain, brought together over 200 stakeholders from industry, policy, and academia who gathered to explore how technology, business, and policy approaches will converge to lead us toward a hyper-connected world.
Our CEO, Monique Calisti participated in Session 2: Global 6G development – Part II, moderated by Periklis Chatzimisios, a Professor at International Hellenic University and featuring Issam Toufik, CTO of ETSI, David Lund, president of PSCE, Elena Díez Lorenzana, Senior Manager Corporate Strategy at Telefónica, Nancy Alonistioti, an Associate Professor at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Nigel Jefferies the Chairman of the Wireless World Research Forum, while our CTO, Massimo Neri, as the one6G Board Member was invited to give a talk during Session 6: “one6G Association.”
As President of Digital for Planet and Coordinator of the 6G4Society project, Monique brought to the table a wealth of experience and knowledge about strategies needed to ensure that societal and sustainable values are properly embedded into the development of 6G technology. In her insightful presentation titled “6G for society and environment – how to get there?”, Monique shared her insights on how 6G can be leveraged to benefit society and the environment. Among other points, her talk covered the key aspects of the 6G4Society initiative:
- Generating better understanding and shared knowledge about 6G technologies,
- Supporting public acceptance of 6G through a unified consensus framework,
- Defining and promoting sustainability indicators for 6G development.
During her time on stage, Monique has also emphasized the importance of global alignment on the path toward 6G so that it can drive significant change for society and the environment.
Massimo’s presentation titled “Realizing 6G: Orchestrating the convergence of computing and networking” explored the dynamics of the ongoing convergence of telecommunications and cloud computing from two perspectives. On the technical front, Massimo highlighted Martel’s research within the SNS-JU-funded 6G-NTN project, focusing on AI-driven network forecasting techniques implemented with cloud-native tools. Additionally, he discussed the funding landscape at the European level, noting the increasing overlap in themes across upcoming funding programs, which reflects this technological convergence.
“During the 2024 one6G Summit 2024, which brought together diverse experts from across the globe, it became clear that the future of 6G will be catalyzed by the seamless AI-orchestration of resources across a 3D network architecture, leveraging cloud-native capabilities,” said Massimo upon having followed all expert presentations and on-stage discussions, adding that “despite current investment challenges, this will empower us to push forward and enable our shared, sustainable 6G vision to become reality.” Martel is proud to be a part of the initiative working toward a future where 6G technologies unlock the potential of smart connectivity, fostering secure, resilient, and sustainable development of our economy and society, and we look forward to contributing to future events organized by the one6G Association.

The one6G Summit is a flagship event of the one6G Association, which was founded in early 2021 to evolve, test, and promote next-generation cellular and wireless technology-based communications solutions.
