The Second CAPS Community Workshop took place in Volos, Greece, on July 12th, in parallel with the MAZI Summer School which ran for the whole week of July 10th – 14th.
The main goal of the one day CAPS community workshop was to gather all organisations actively engaged in design, deployment and promotion of technologies for good, which embraces a number of initiatives within the broader Digital Social Innovation (DSI) ecosystem, in order to debate progress, priorities, and impact for the society. This gathering together of prominent players in the DSI scene, including several players from the CAPS community and representatives of the European Commission, gave a powerful opportunity for advancing the finalisation of the DSI Manifesto. Moreover, a central part of the discussions focused on discussing user engagement and behavioural changes, while learning about the main outcomes and results of the ongoing CAPS projects.
Dr Monique Calisti, Martel Executive Director & Partner set the tone of the day by introducing the ChiC project, which Martel is coordinating, and the CAPS initiative. “Gathering together and aligning on the priorities and needs of all digital social innovation players in Europe and beyond is crucial to ensure sustainability of the overall CAPS efforts, whether they will continue to be pushed forward within the CAPS context or elsewhere”.
During the rest of the week, several CAPS projects organized their hands-on tutorials/workshops based on their work and results. They joined forces transfer knowledge and results from project to project and empower the engagement of new communities and users in view of promoting the CAPS beyond the EC borders.
The Martel Media team developed the event’s brand image, the event’s website and the collateral materials, including the agenda, badges and roll-up used at the location. For the work Martel is pursuing as leader of the ChiC project, the CAPS community workshop in Volos has been an important milestone. It gave the opportunity to start collecting the major CAPS projects’ outputs and results, which will be published online on the CAPS portal by September 2017.
